Marcus' journey in the education sector is characterised by a deep-seated understanding of the complex challenges that Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) encounter at various operational phases. His entrepreneurial spirit saw the birth of the Selmar Institute of Education, a venture where Marcus amalgamated his name and dedication to create a bastion of educational excellence (Sel - Sellen, Mar - Marcus = SELMAR). His extensive background in governance and executive leadership has cultivated an industry insight that is both comprehensive and enriched by first-hand experience.

In his recent role as a Non-Executive Director & Interim CEO at Catalyst Education, Marcus spearheaded the acquisition of three RTOs, catapulting the company into a dominant position in the community services sector across Australia, serving over 6,500 learners and fostering a vibrant workforce of 200 full-time employees. Even in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, Marcus exhibited unparalleled leadership, maintaining the seamless delivery of programs in early childhood and aged care sectors, all while ensuring full team employment.

Marcus is celebrated for his adeptness in strategic planning and organisational transformation. His meticulous attention to achieving key performance indicators, coupled with a relentless focus on financial drivers, has been instrumental in nurturing RTOs to flourish under his guidance. Marcus' illustrious career, spanning over 20 years, showcases a legacy of profitable trading, the inception of groundbreaking quality and compliance initiatives, and the successful integration of private equity and new capital streams.
